Thunderbird Times

Newsletter of the Mighty South London Triumph Owners Motorcycle Club

Hello people.  Claudia is stepping down from her position of TT Editor after 2 & a bit years (she’s more than done her bit). She is a true professional and her banter was second to none – with a German twist of course!!  I will try and keep the Newsletter as interesting and informative as I can, Claudia is a hard act to follow.  Please keep your reports coming in for the Newsletter as she would wish you to, it just doesn’t happen it’s a team effort.  Thanks Claudia you’ve been a star and wish you every success in your career.  You deserve it.

13.11 Quiz Night – This proved to be another fun evening thanks to Bob and not forgetting Frances his other half, for all their hard work putting it altogether.  Mac made an appearance and it was smashing to see him looking so fit and well.  Doddie’s team won yet again – well done you lot – I think you should rename yourself the “Eggheads” as you seem to be unbeatable. Bob could do with a bit more support next year – two more teams to make it up to seven would be perfect – it’s hard work for Bob getting it all together so think about it next year and support him.

27.11 Tenpin Bowling – We had our annual Tolworth bowling challenge with Surrey Branch and MSL won with 2,648 to Surrey’s 2,531 – a close run match.  Surrey’s Chris was top scorer on 405, our own Jerry was MSL’s top man with 317.

29.11 NEC Trip – Twelve members attended the NEC Bike Show ably driven by mini-bus driver Bob.  Due to the M40 being shut and many diversions later, they arrived at 2pm (a long 4 hour trip).  Undeterred, cheque books in hand, the

stands were raided for goodies and new “lids” bought by several including Jim and Jerry. Good day out for everybody and many thanks to Bob for putting up with eleven back seat drivers!!

Please provide the editor with plenty of input to fill this section in future editions.

Please let Mog know if interested in any of the below-mentioned events so he can set in motion if enough folks come forward:

24 February 2008  - Sammy Miller Museum

Date to be agreed  -  Bovington Tank Museum

Date to be agreed  -  Holland Trip

Date to be agreed  -  Dordogne Trip (1 week)

Late August 2008 -  IOM Trip (contact John Flower if interested) - several members have expressed an interest for the MGP in August 2008 - matters to be discussed include Hotel or Self Catering, length of stay (perhaps 5 days instead of 7).

Mog also came up with the splendid idea for weekday pub/café/tea shop lunch runs for those of us who are lucky to be at home during the week.  I think it’s a marvellous idea and I’m sure will be popular.  When you next see Mog let him know if you’re interested.  The more the merrier and then it will happen.  You can count me and John in Mog – foooood!!

This is my first Newsletter and I’m trying to come up with a few new ideas so I can spread the word.  For example the GOOD NEWS section - a bike you’ve just finished – winning one million on the Lottery!! or your retiring and giving up work!!  I’m sure you can think of something.  It’s always uplifting to hear other people’s good news an example below:

Jim is a proud Granddad for the third time to baby Joshua born 14 October.

George our son has been promoted to Lance Corporal.

I would also like your input for the FOR SALE section– as Bill puts our Newsletter on the WEB quite a few people could respond.  Let’s give it a try and see what happens – only you can make this a success.  John and I have started the ball rolling so if you have anything to sell please let me know – not everyone knows how to use E-Bay!!

Trailer for two bikes (also fold-up wooden box if required) Offers – John Flower – 020 8942 9976 (M) 07958649080 (SORRY NOW SOLD)

Last, but not least, enjoy reading Brian & Blossom’s report (see attached) on the USA trip in September – it’s brilliant.

That’s all I can think of for our November issue – please support your TT Editor AND KEEP ME BUSY!!
